![]() The new character designs which pride themselves on their close resemblance to the original artwork found in the manga simply cannot use their adherence to the source material as a defense of their janky anatomy and inferiority to the beautiful artwork of Kyoji Asano, and the new music cannot use its passable composition as a defense of its utter incompatibility with Hiroyuki Sawano’s constantly recycled tracks. Obviously, Araki’s heart-stopping visual direction and irreplaceable cinematic instinct made the anime adaptation what it ultimately was, but Hajime Isayama’s knack for framing an iconic single image when it mattered most still shouldn’t be overstated when the final season here has neither directorial flow nor memorable cinematics. Am I going to sit here and deny the existence of the throngs of rabid keyboard warriors on social media sending them death threats for producing such appalling CG and embarrassing 2D animation? No, but those people are foolish children with too much time on their hands, and by echoing their indisputably warranted criticisms, I and others like me are not justifying their acts of disrespect and harassment, so I urge you not to feel sorry for saying what you see clearly in front of you and criticizing it for what it is: an ugly, cheap anime.Īfter episode six, I officially became a manga reader, since I simply could not let this atrocity be my first experience of Attack on Titan’s brilliant story, and what I found in the manga was absolutely stellar shot composition which I had previously thought was simply a product of Tetsuro Araki’s adaptation. Attack on Titan: The Not-So-Final Season is a disgrace to the franchise which came before it on every visual level, and to say so is in no way to deride the overworked animation staff at MAPPA. ![]() Let me get one thing straight: you can say whatever you want about WIT Studio falling victim to Kodansha’s unfair and unreasonable production scheduling in the third season just like MAPPA is now, and how that lead to a double split-cour which ultimately wasn’t even enough to assure consistent quality throughout part two, but you must also admit pointing out these things is nothing more than a diversion from the far greater travesty of animation before you now. ![]() aimed at a poor product is somehow a direct insult to the workers who made it, and this is a shockingly immature worldview to espouse. There seems to be this odd and ignorant consensus pervading the fandom which suggests any and all criticism If your expectation for Attack on Titan is an anime you can watch on a screen and hear with speakers, then this season will do you well, but if your expectations are a well directed, well organized story brought to life with beautiful animation crafted by a passionate team of talented artists and genius creatives, then you will be sorely disappointed, because unlike previous seasons, this production is so hideously ugly, you’d think Attack on Titan wasn’t the defining masterpiece of our era, which it most certainly is.

Menninger also advocated for the therapeutic benefits of play, i.e., “pleasurable activity in which the means is more important than the ostensible end,” as opposed to work, due to “the opportunities that it affords for the relief of repressed aggressions.” For example, the Menningers used “bibliotherapy” (or therapeutic reading) with their patients. In particular, Menninger thought that creating a humane environment for patients to live in is an integral part of medical and mental health care.Īccordingly, the Menninger Clinic created a “total environment” for its patients where they could engage in social activities and physical exercises, as well as receive comprehensive care from doctors of various medical subspecialties. ![]() They advocated for and practiced holistic medical care, where the patient’s environment plays an important role in treating their body and mind. One such prominent critic of the criminal justice system in the United States was Dr. But why should the punishment fit the crime? As ideas of punishment were transforming prisons between the 19th and 20th centuries, and prison administrators were looking for tools to punish or rehabilitate prisoners, there were those who questioned this core tenet of criminal justice. 153, 173 (1976), the US Supreme Court interpreted the Eighth Amendment as stating that the punishment must not be grossly out of proportion to the crime. ![]() Constitution, according to which “Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.” For instance, in Gregg v. ![]() It is also violative of right to life and personal liberty of which freedom of choice is a necessary concomitant. Can we override the essential requirement of men’s rea or guilty mind before holding a person guilty of committing a crime? Strict liability is inconsistent with ‘presumption of innocence’ in criminal cases. Kidnapping is a strict liability offence, it is of no consequence that the girl accompanied him voluntarily. In all such cases, the girl’s father invariably registers a case of kidnapping against the boy. Thus, there are so many cases where the desire for togetherness compels young couples to elope. Honour killings are a stark testimony of our dark underbelly. Ours is a closed society where love is taboo and public display of affection is frowned upon. The concern here is regarding the way, the age of consent is interpreted and applied in our country. Another influencing factor is the socio-cultural milieu. Thus, modern States are justified in fixing age of consent and this age is to be determined, considering the physical, mental, emotional and psychological health of children. But, this permits reasonable interferences or restrictions necessary in society such as protection of health, morals etc. Under article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights, the concept of the right of private life includes right to sexual life. Below 18 the law doesn’t allow her to have sex even if she is lawfully married, and above 18 she cannot say no because there is a presumption of matrimonial consent. Still, it is unfortunate that Indian wives do not have the liberty to exercise the option of consent. Union of India read down the exception to Section 375 that permitted men to consummate marriages with their brides between 15-18 years of age. In 2017 this situation changed after the Supreme Court vide its judgment in the case of Independent Thought v. The husband gets the right to consummate his marriage, as the Indian Penal Code does not recognize marital rape. Thus, till a child bride applies to get her marriage annulled, the marriage is deemed as perfectly valid. India signed CEDAW in 1980, still, child marriages are treated only as voidable and not void. It says child marriages should not have legal effect. Article 16 of the Convention of Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) deals with marriage and family. This has now been repealed and replaced by the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006. This was later raised to 18 and 21 for girls and boys respectively in 1978. The Child Marriage Restraint Act, 1929 popularly known as the Sarda Act prescribed the age of marriage as 14 for girls and 18 for boys. The earliest law that we had on this subject was the Majority Act, 1875 which fixed the age of majority at 18 years (amended in 1999). One is mature enough to take decisions regarding casting his vote at 18 drive at 16 (gearless vehicles) or 18 (motor vehicles) drink at 18, 21, 23, 25 (different states have fixed different age) adopt at 21 work at 14 and marry at 18 (for girls) and 21 for (boys). Who decides the age of adulthood- Law, society, State or biological factors? In India, we have a different age of adulthood for different things. POCSO fixed the age of consent for both boys as well as girls at 18. In 2012 we got gender-neutral legislation for the protection of children against sexual offences. We did not have any age of consent for boys, and it was only in the 21st century that our lawmakers woke up to the possibility of sexual abuse of minor boys. Sexual activity with a girl below the prescribed statutory minimum age amounted to rape, irrespective of the girl’s consent. ![]() Under the Indian Penal Code, 1860 the age of consent was only for girls and was initially pegged at 10 years. Thus law forbids sexual activity with or among, children below a specified age. Owing to their immaturity of age and understanding, minors are considered incapable of understanding nature as well as consequences of their actions. Age of consent is defined as the age at which one is considered legally competent to consent for sexual activity. The old versus the new Unity input systemīefore we start building our player controller, let’s briefly talk about the difference between the new and the old Unity input system. Speaking of design patterns, apart from the state pattern we’ll use also another one, in game development very common, if not the most common: the observer pattern. However, I will assume you have a basic understanding of C# and OOP concepts like inheritance and abstract classes.īy the end of this post, you’ll be able to easily extend our controller with your own states and you’ll have under your belt a design pattern you’ll find useful in many different contexts. In case you’ve never heard about state machines or the state design pattern before, fear not, I’ll explain everything step-by-step. We’re going to implement the core of the controller as a state machine with a focus on clean architecture and extendability. ![]() On top of that, you’ll see how to set up idle, run, jump, and fall animations and how to smoothly transition among them. Our third-person controller will handle inputs from a keyboard and mouse and a standard gamepad, and because the new input system in Unity is quite smart, as you’ll soon see, adding support for another input device wouldn’t require any extra code. In this post, I’ll show you how to build a third-person controller in Unity with the new Input System package together with a follow camera driven by Cinemachine, another powerful package by Unity Technologies. If you randomly pick a few games, each would probably have a different art style and mechanics, a different story, or even no story at all, but there’s one thing they’d all have in common: all games need to read and handle inputs from devices like keyboard, mouse, gamepad, joystick, VR controllers, and so on. Building a third-person controller in Unity with the new input system I work full-time as a programmer in Bohemia Interactive studio, in my spare time I write blog posts, occasionally create a game on a game jam, and constantly learn to be a better developer.
